The Parkers Arms – A trip here is a MUST.

What is it ?  –  A country Pub in the heart of the Lancashire countryside. The closest town is Clitheroe (6 miles away) so make sure you`re driving as a Taxi won`t be cheap. We stayed 5 minutes away at Clerk Laithe Lodge which i can highly recommend. (Book here)

What`s cooking – There`s something on the Menu for everyone at The Parkers Arms. The Pies speak for themselves and there` s none better. Chef is also an amazing Fish / Shellfish cook so anyone who`s into that is in for a real treat. I dont think you`ll go wrong whatever you order here.

Who`s cooking – Stosie Madie , a wonderful Chef and a Lovely Lady. Stosie has most probably forgotten more than i`ll ever know about food.

What should I expect ?  Pub food as good as you`re going to eat anywhere in the UK…. Really. They`ve just been placed 23rd in the UK in the National Restaurant awards. (even beating 3 Michelin starred places)

Must Order dish –  I pre ordered the Lobster which was an amazing £25 for 2. The Lobster was cooked to order and came with a side of Sourdough and a stunning richly flavoured Bisque. I can honestly say that in a blind tasting this dish would stand up against a 3 star equivalent anywhere in the World. The Bisque was brought to life with a dash of Pastis and the Lobster Coral / head Butter whipped into the sauce just before plating to add an extra dimension of fresh Lobster flavour…..Superb.

What will it cost me ? –  Food – 3 courses with plenty to choose for £35 How good is that? Drinks – We just started with Cocktails at £8 then just bought our Wines by the glass which ranged from £4.50 to £5.50 for Reds , Whites and Dessert wine….fabulous. I had to have a local Beer with the Pie which was a perfect accompaniment.

My thoughts ? –  `Back of beyond` , it`s a destination meal but boy it`s worth it. The Village is a “Blink and you`ll miss it” place. I`m not very good at directions and therefore struggled badly. If you have a Sat Nav then you`ve cracked it. Be warned… No phone signal for miles.

What`s the Atmosphere like ? –  The Barman A.J will keep you entertained , believe me.

What`s good ? – There`s more to the Parkers arms than Pies but c`mon…. The most famous Pies in the North of England are a must as far as i`m concerned. I pre-ordered the Lobster when I booked the table as that was the main reason for the trip. As soon as spotted it on Instagram i had to experience it.

Any Negatives , Would I return ? –  Absolutely , next time i`ll do a double and make it a Gastro Pub weekend with another venue for the following night.

This is the real deal and as good as Lobster gets. Charcoal Grilled whole Morecambe Bay Lobster served with its Pastis scented Lobster Head Bisque. £25 if you order it as an extra course. Bigger Lobsters are available upon request depending on availability during the season.

And then the Main courses arrived – Deep breaths and full stomachs. I just couldn`t resist getting stuck into the Pie and managed half before i waved the White flag. The rest went home in a container and was an absolute treat next evening.

Curried Burholme Farm Mutton Pie….As seen on the Hairy Bikers new series. So much love and care goes into the Pies here. At the moment they only make 12 of each Pie and when they`re gone…..that`s it. I couldn`t help but wonder about the potential business they might have here. I can see these Pies in every outlet in the North of England and beyond…..Stunning product.
