When I`m eating at the Ritz i`m like a child on christmas morning , i`m excited , i`m all smiles and it`s simply because i know exactly what`s waiting for me as soon as i walk through the doors….My own little heaven. As i`ve said on previous Ritz blog posts i can never see myself coming down from Cumbria to London and then leaving without a visit to the Ritz for food.It really is that good for me and on this occasion i knew it would be even better as it was to be the pinnacle of my official “hitting middle age” weekend and i was going there to finish my gastronomic 4 days with a bang on my “Big birthday “
My top chef for the occasion would be non other than young Adam Smith , if i ever win the lottery then this lad `will` be leaving the Ritz whether he likes it or not. I love his food , his cooking style is totally `me` off to a tee…he hits the mark every time. Put simply , i`m into Luxury food , classic food , fresh natural `best of the best` ingredients cooked to perfection with style and flair and ever so slightly with a modern twist. When im paying good money in the high end restaurants then i want to be eating luxury ingredients. I want to be eating Foie gras , Truffles , Lobster , Caviar , the finest Beef , the best fish swimming in the sea , i want to eat what im not eating at home , something very special and to me everything i love about in food is encapsulated into a meal at the Ritz….. On with the food.

I think you`ll agree , the food is simply stunning here. Combine this with the grandeur of dining in one the worlds most famous hotels and the whole package neatly sewn together and it really is an experience that can never be forgotten. The food just speaks for itself. The wines to accompany are divine ( they do a split wine flight between 2 diners to give the wine and food matching experience ) The service is world class , classic and refined to the letter. The whole place is faultless and just to push the boat out even further , we ate our delights to the sounds of the Ritz pianist entertaining us with Bond…James Bond , From Russia with Love and many more classics……..Ahhhhhhhhhh. Many thanks to you all , Adam Smith , Lewis Wilson and the front of house team. Don`t stop doing what you`re doing guys and i`ll be back very soon.

The Laird makes the dramatic entrance….but please spare us the song.
I couldn`t keep the Laird off the old ivorys…”and for my next number , combine harvester by The Wurzels “
Firstly many happy returns and congratulations on your birthday, you look like you had a whale of a time; I am so jealous….
Secondly may i just say.. i am a very keen reader of your blog and for good reason; its great… normally there a bit , shall we say intricate and bore-ish to say the least.
I will on your recommendation be trying the Ritz very soon, i have been quite a few times to Marcus Wareings restaurant and had exceptional times.
I look forward to reading your column/blog again real soon… avid reader
ps. i particular loved and agree with The Square restaurant piece… there fantastic
Gorgeous photos as usual. Must say, I cannot wait for the ‘smear’ to go out of fashion. The presentation is faultless apart from on the ballotine. The sticky dark red looks like the bit they leave out of the Bodyform ads (sorry, have been struggling for an hour to find a more delicate way of putting it.) excellent piece sir. You do a great service for those on a limited budget with small children who enjoy your meals vicariously.
Deanna…. just say it as it is why don’t you ? omg….im eating here.
